FACC presents team award for outstanding innovations in 2023

FACC AG presented the coveted Leonardo Team Award for the eighth time at its Christmas party. The winning team realised the in-house production of exclusive business jet furniture with real wood surfaces.

At FACC, the LEONARDO is awarded for outstanding team achievements and projects. This year, a total of 16 teams from 15 FACC locations submitted innovations that make a significant contribution to the technological and economic development of FACC. From these, five finalists were selected by a jury and presented at the Christmas party last Saturday.

"Leonardo projects are projects that are forward-looking for the entire company. They symbolise FACC's innovative strength over many years. The fact that we are one of the few aviation companies in the world today that develops and manufactures lightweight products for almost all aircraft and engine manufacturers is thanks to the innovative strength of the company and its crew," said CEO Robert Machtlinger, emphasising the significance of the award.

Leonardo 2023 goes to project team for the production of business jet furniture with wooden surfaces

FACC is one of the world's top three suppliers of cabin interiors for business jets. FACC intends to further strengthen this position and become the leading supplier on the global market. The Leonardo 2023 went to the team that realised the process development and industrialisation of business jet furniture with real wooden surfaces last year. In this project, completely new materials and processes were developed for FACC - including highly technical coatings that, for example, have very high fire resistance requirements or self-healing properties in the event of minor scratches, while at the same time meeting the highest standards of gloss and brilliance. This allows the company to build up important expertise in the use of real wood surfaces in the production of business jet furniture. It also reduces dependency on external suppliers, increases flexibility and further reduces production costs. "Wood is one of the materials of the future when it comes to cabin interiors in aviation," emphasises CEO Robert Machtlinger. "The fact that we can now manufacture high-quality business jet furniture ourselves using a completely new technology with reduced dependencies on supply chains is another milestone for us in the Cabin Interiors division."

FACC values as criteria for success

The most important factor for success is team spirit. The points system for awarding the Leonardo is based on the FACC values compass and is divided into the categories of performance, output, respect and team spirit. After all, success can only be anchored in the company in the long term and sustainably if it is developed and lived together.
