FACC Strengthens International Manufacturing Network with Plant Expansion in Croatia

With the opening of its plant expansion in Jakovlje, Croatia, FACC is further expanding its international manufacturing network, thereby increasing manufacturing capacity to meet the strong growth of the aviation industry in the coming years. A total of EUR 36 million was invested in the facility.

The international aviation industry is preparing for significantly higher production rates: 18,700 firm aircraft orders and a near doubling of the global fleet from 23,210 to 45,550 aircraft by 2045 underscore the high demand in the global market. As a partner to all major manufacturers, FACC is therefore continuing to expand its production capacity: With the opening this Monday of the plant expansion in Croatia – representing an investment of EUR 36 million – the production area at the Jakovlje site has tripled. The site has already grown to over 500 employees, making it FACC’s largest production site outside of Austria.

“In 2022, we announced that we would significantly expand our production area and capacity at our site in Croatia and grow our workforce from 160 to over 500 employees. We’ve delivered—and we’re far from done,” emphasized FACC CEO Robert Machtlinger during the opening ceremony, which was also attended by political and diplomatic representatives, including Envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Minister of Economy Ante Šušnjar and Austrian Ambassador Yvonne Tončić-Sorinj.

New Technologies for Cabin Manufacturing

Technological advancements at the Croatian site are already underway: The plant already features a fully automated paint shop that sets the standard for the entire industry. The next step is now underway with the launch of press production for composite components. As they expand production capacity, the FACC teams in Croatia and Austria are working closely together, ensuring a successful exchange of knowledge among all international locations. This also strengthens the role of the Croatian site within FACC’s international manufacturing network, positioning it as a Center of Excellence for the global production of high-end cabin interiors.

EUR 350 million for further growth

By 2030, FACC will invest approximately EUR 350 million in new technologies and the expansion of its global locations. This will enable both higher production rates for existing programs and new customer projects, while further increasing efficiency throughout the company. This strategy is also being pursued through the plant expansion in Upper Austria, which will double the capacity for structural components at the St. Martin site.
