FACC with strong sales growth in 2022

  • 607 million € turnover in 2022 – +22% growth
  • Operating EBIT: 5.5 million €
  • +381 additional employees in 2022
  • Investments in research & development: 43.5 million €

> In the year 2022, FACC AG could increase its turnover by 22% to 607 million €. On the one hand, this strong growth is due to an increase in production rates in the short- and medium-haul segment as well as the field of business jets, and on the other hand, it can be ascribed to a significant increase in development services for international customers.

> In 2022, an operating EBIT of 5.5 million € was achieved. The economic environment was challenging - especially because of the war in Ukraine and the consequential supplier chain difficulties as well as the significant rise in inflation.

Expansion of the manufacturing footprint

Due to the high market demand for new aircraft and the related high order level, FACC AG was able to grow by 381 employees (FTE) at all locations. Moreover, Plant 6 of FACC at the Croatia location, which was commissioned in December 2021, was expanded to 200 employees. At this factory, lightweight components for cabin interiors of passenger aircraft and business jets are manufactured. The next expansion stage is already in the process of planning.

Focus on growth, efficiency, research & development

Due to numerous development projects, FACC could set the course for the future by taking some significant steps in 2022. In the process, new composite lightweight solutions for the global aerospace industry were developed. In this context, 43.5 million € were invested in new research and development projects. The major focus of these projects has been on the development of new high-tech materials which allow significantly reduced process times, on the one hand, while being recyclable and, as is typical of modern materials, able to withstand extreme stress on the other hand.

Future growth: Strategy 2030

Within the scope of Strategy 2030, FACC aims at gaining market shares in the core segment of civil aviation. Moreover, it is the objective to establish the company as a high-tech supplier of lightweight solutions in the new growth sectors Urban Air Mobility and Space on the international market. In this field, further key orders could be acquired in 2022, among them an order from the new customer Archer Aviation for the production of fuselage and wing elements of the new eVTOL series aircraft Archer Midnight.

Outlook

Due to the worldwide recovery of air traffic and numerous new orders, the management of FACC AG expects a continuation of the consistent growth course in the business year 2023. The most important aspect is ensuring an organic growth of the existing projects as well as gaining new orders in the core business and in the Space sector. Over the next 18 months, the workforce is intended to be further expanded by another 600 employees.
